This year our Palm Springs vaca was cut a little short since my sister's wedding landed on the Saturday that our weekend usually began. Instead of cancelling the trip completely, Haley and I decided to go up early Sunday morning sans Husbands! The boys decided against taking Monday off of work and let us girls have a little get-away, with the kiddos of course, to ourselves.
The girls did great in the car which I was very thankful for. Jilly is hit or miss on long car rides sometimes and since she's still rear-facing (my decision I KNOW) I was a tad bit worried that she'd be a terror on our trip up there. But nope, she surprised me as usual. We quickly unpacked the car with ice-chests, floaties, inner tubes, towels and sunscreen and jumped in the pool the first chance we got. It was really different not having the boys around this year. For one we were the #1 supervisors of our girls, naturally, but #2 we weren't able to crack open a bottle of wine, pour it in our red cups and float for hours on end while we let our skin crisp up... because the boys would be watching the girls at the point! I really missed that part! haha Next year will be different. Mr. Drew will be here to join in on the fun activities and Jilly will be running around jumping in the pool like Grace did this year. I can see it now, it'll be a blast!
I love our Palm Springs Vaca tradition. It's relaxing, peaceful and something I look forward to every single year.
